This is the famous slipper orchid which is protected in many European countries. There are only a limited number of plants growing in the wild in England. It requires semi-shaded alkaline conditions. Flowering to 30 cm usually in April/May. These are seed raised plants. most will have 2/3 buds and some 6 to 10 bud specimens available.
Grow in a woodland situation, north facing garden, cold frame or cool alpine house.
